How do I...

Writing your first entry

Open Today, write a line or two, and press Save. You will see a reflection, tags, one question and the entry's stratum. Press Write another to add more; the free plan holds three a day.

Dictating an entry

On Journal and Archive, press Dictate and speak. Your browser turns speech into text, which you can edit before saving. Chrome, Edge and Safari support it; if yours does not, the button hides and typing works as usual.

Reading a stratum

Bottom to top is the order of the entry. Colors come from mood and energy, close lines from energy, rough edges from tension, thin veins from themes. The legend under each stratum says what shaped it.

Opening a day from the strata

In Strata, tap or click any layer to open that entry. Use the month and year switch at the top. Keyboard users can use the list of days under the column.

Getting a pattern report

On Journal, open Patterns and choose This week or This month. You need at least three entries in that stretch. Each pattern lists the entries it came from; select one to open it.

Exporting

Settings has Export everything (markdown and JSON, every plan). Single strata save as PNG or SVG from the entry page. Month posters are on Journal; the year poster is on Archive.

Deleting

Delete one entry from its page. Delete all entries, or your whole account, from Settings. Both are immediate and remove everything derived from your entries too.

Changing or canceling a plan

Billing shows your plan and opens the Stripe portal to change card, switch monthly or annual, or cancel. Canceling keeps paid features until the period ends.

Common questions

Asked often.

Is Daystrata therapy?

No. Daystrata is a reflection tool. It notices and reflects; it never diagnoses, labels, or treats. If you are struggling, a licensed therapist or your doctor is the right next step, and in a crisis in the US you can call or text 988.

Who can read my entries?

You. Entries are private by default, encrypted at rest with a key derived for your account, never shared, and never used to train models. To produce a reflection, the text is sent to the language model provider for that one request with storage turned off, then the reply comes back to you.

Which AI model does it use?

Daystrata is model-agnostic. A thin routing layer sends each request to the configured provider, checks the reply against a strict schema, and falls back to the next provider if one is down. When no model is connected, a small built-in local reader answers instead so the journal never breaks.

How is the artwork made?

In code. Your entry's mood, energy, tension, themes and the hour you wrote become parameters for a seeded generative renderer: palette from mood and energy, line density from energy, turbulence from tension, one thin vein per theme. The same entry always draws the same stratum.

What happens on the free plan after 30 days?

You can keep writing every day. Entries older than 30 days stay safe but are hidden from view until you upgrade, and you can export or delete all of them at any time.

Can I really delete everything?

Yes. Delete one entry, all entries, or your whole account from Settings. Deletion removes the entries and everything derived from them, like reflections, tags and pattern reports, from our database right away.

Can I dictate instead of typing?

On Journal and Archive, yes. Dictation uses your browser's built-in speech recognition, and you can always edit the text before saving. If your browser does not support it, the typed editor is right there.
